Bridal Frequently Asked Questions
DO YOU HAVE A BOOKING MINIMUM? To reserve your wedding date, a minimum booking of 1 bridal service + 4 party services or $1,200 is required. For an elevated and attentive experience, I personally only accommodate up to 6 services per event (5 if I am working with the bride for hair and makeup). Should your party require more services beyond this, additional artist(s) will be needed to ensure the highest standard of service and timing. Bookings that require an additional artist are subject to a $250 artist fee, along with a minimum of 4 additional services or $950, whichever is greater. This minimum applies regardless of service count. For example, if your group has a total of 7 services, you will still be required to meet my minimum, $1200, plus the $950 minimum for the second artist.
All minimums are exclusive of travel, preview appointments, and any additional fees. Rates are subject to change and are only secured upon execution of a signed contract.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY WEDDING? Typically I would say to book 6-9 months out but my booking process is currently on pause, as I prepare to have my first baby this fall! I will resume booking for summer 2027 and beyond later this year. If at the time you inquire, I have not opened my books for your date, I can add you to my waitlist and will contact you as soon as I open your date!
HOW DO I RESERVE YOUR WEDDING SERVICES? Your date is only secured with a signed contract and a $500 non-refundable retainer. Booking is on a first-come, first-serve basis and dates will not be held based on inquiry alone.
WILL I (THE BRIDE) BE WORKING WITH KYLIE IF I BOOK? Yes! When I do hire an additional artist, they are highly skilled and professional but I will never book a wedding with the intention of not servicing the bride myself! It is important to me to build and maintain connections with every bride who books with KJA and not just pass them off to a random artist.
DO YOU ACCOMMODATE LARGE WEDDING PARTIES? Keeping quality control and time management in mind, I am only able to accommodate up to 6 services myself and offer the option to add on additional artist(s) based on availability. If your party has more than my team can accommodate, you are encouraged to book a separate stylist(s) on your own for the additional services!
DO YOU REQUIRE PREVIEW APPOINTMENTS? Preview appointments are not required but highly encouraged. Preview appointments are the time when I get to know you and your beauty expectations are discussed. Preview appointments are exclusively held Monday - Thursday, in Milford CT so please consider this before booking.
WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY PREVIEW APPOINTMENT? I suggest planning your preview about 2-3 months out from your wedding date so your hair/skin will closely resemble how it will on wedding day. Bonus Tip: schedule your preview on the day of your dress fitting to get an idea of how it will all look together!
WILL YOU PROVIDE A TIMELINE FOR WEDDING DAY? As your beauty vendor, I provide all of my brides with a complimentary timeline for the beauty services they have booked with KJA along with prep tips and setup needs to ensure that the morning runs smoothly! You will get this about 4-6 weeks out from the wedding, once you have given me a final time to be ready by (typically the time of photographers arrival).
Bride will have 2 hours allotted for hair or makeup services. Bridesmaids will each have 50 minutes allotted for hair or makeup services. The time you give as the "to be ready by" time will have a 30-60 minute buffer and I schedule services to start based on the number of services, counting back from that time. If you want to start later in the morning, you will need to have a later end time or add an additional artist (pending availability).
CAN I BOOK THE MINIMUM SERVICES NOW AND ADD MORE LATER? Once contract is signed, number of services cannot decrease. If you would like to add on more services later, let me know as soon as possible but no there is no guarantee additional services can be accommodated. It is important to get an accurate count of confirmed services as early as possible.
WILL I BE CHARGED GRATUITY? Gratuity is not required but is always appreciated. Industry standard for freelance artists is 15-20% of service, just like in the salon.
WHAT IF SOMEONE IS RUNNING LATE ON WEDDING DAY? If a bridal party member/attendant is late to or misses time for their service, the artist cannot guarantee this guest will receive services. KJA will not stay past the end time on timeline to accommodate late guests. No refunds on service(s) will be given.
