BRIDAL PREVIEW

Preview appointments are required for the bride when booking. It is the time where I get to know you and your beauty expectations are discussed. It is essential for me to get to know your personal style and beauty preferences. At this time, I do not offer preview appointments for anyone other than the bride.

PREVIEW APPOINTMENT BEFORE A CONTRACT AND RETAINER: Booking is on a first come, first serve basis. You are welcome to schedule a preview before officially booking but you may run the risk of losing out on your date in the meantime. Just having had your preview appointment does not guarantee you will secure your wedding date - dates will not be held without a signed contract/retainer payment.
SCHEDULING YOUR PREVIEW APPOINTMENT: Preview appointments are done on Tuesday mornings at my home studio in Naperville, IL. Sunday availability will open up during non-peak wedding season (November-April).

WEDDING DAY

TIMELINE AND SCHEDULING: Bride will have a minimum of 60 minutes (and up to 90 minutes) allotted for hair or makeup services. Bridesmaids will each have 50 minutes allotted for hair or makeup services. This timing gives us additional "padding" time but each client must arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled time in case we run ahead of schedule. Artists will move directly onto the next client, even if ahead of schedule
As your beauty vendor, I will provide you with a complimentary wedding day schedule for my services. The time you give as the "to be ready by" time will have an 30-60 minute buffer and I schedule services to start based on the number of services counting back from that time.
MISSING APPOINTMENT TIMES/RUNNING LATE:  If we run behind schedule because a client was not available at their appointment time, an additional $100/hour will be applied to the bride’s total. This hourly fee is not prorated - 15 minutes would still be $100.
BOOKING EXTRA TIME FOR TOUCH UPS: If you feel like you may want additional touch ups after photos or ceremony, you are able to book artists at a rate of $100/hour, starting immediately from the time of initial services completion as well as a stipend for a meal in between. A $50 packing fee will also apply. This hourly fee is not prorated - 15 minutes would still be $100.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General Questions:

How far in advance should I book? Deciding who to book for hair or makeup is a big decision and quality artists book up quickly. Bookings happen as soon as 18 months in advance so the sooner you are ready to book, the more likely you will be able to secure your artist!

How do I reserve you for my wedding? Your date is only secured with a signed contract and a non-refundable 30% retainer. Booking is on a first-come, first-serve basis and dates will not be held base on inquiry alone.

When should I schedule my preview appointment? Preview appointments are generally scheduled on Tuesday mornings. Friday - Sunday availability is very limited due to weddings. Any trials booked on a Friday - Sunday are subject to rescheduling, up to one week before the appointment. I always like to suggest having your trial about 1-3 months out from your wedding date.

Where will the preview appointment be held? Either my studio in Naperville, IL or I can come to you. Travel fees apply to any on-site travel for preview appointments.

When can I expect my services to end on wedding day? Service end time will be set 45 minutes to 1 hour before you need to head out the door for your first look and/or ceremony.

Will I be charged gratuity? Gratuity is not required but is always appreciated. Industry standard for freelance artists is 18-20% of service, just like in the salon.

Can I book the minimum services now and add more later? Once contract is signed, number of services cannot decrease. If you would like to add on more services later, let me know as soon as possible or at least 60 days in advance. I will let you know if I am able to accommodate the request. If I am unable to accommodate the request due to another commitment, additional services cannot be added to the contract. It is important to get an accurate count of confirmed services as early as possible - a $20 fee will apply to any contract modifications.

Can you accommodate a large bridal party? I can accommodate up to 8 services myself, whether that be only hair, only makeup or a combination of both.  If you have 9 or more, I can recommend additional artists but they would need to be booked separately from myself.

Service Specific:

What should I expect at the preview appointment? One completed look for either hair and/or makeup with adjustments as needed. If a second look is required, either at initial preview or at a second date, additional service charges will apply.

How should I prep my hair for my appointment? Everyone receiving services must come with clean, 100% dry hair (washed the night before preferably). If you have curly hair and you are looking for a smooth style, please blow dry smooth but do not use a flat iron. The longevity of your style will not be guaranteed if your hair has any moisture in it when styling.

Will my hairstyle last all day? Different products and techniques are customized based on your hair and style for long-lasting results! The longevity of your style depends on a lot of factors: your hair type (whether it holds curls well), the hairstyle you choose, your dress, hair techniques, products used, weather conditions (indoor vs. outdoor, humidity, heat, sweat,), etc. These are factors to consider when you are choosing your hairstyle. A hair preview would allow you to see if this style is the right fit for you and we can make any adjustments based on how your hair wears throughout the day of your preview appointment.

Is it better to have dirty hair for styling? Definitely not - with the advancement of styling products today, it is easier for stylists to add in grit and texture with hair products than to try to style greasy, weighed down hair.

What should I look for when I look for inspiration photos? Look for makeup or hairstyles with similar facial features, eye color, hair color, texture, and length as you. If you have dark brunette hair, look for hairstyles with dark hair. If you have blonde hair, look for blonde styles. This will give you a realistic expectation of how the looks you love may look.

My hair is stick straight and does NOT hold a curl well. Can I still do a half up style or have my hair down with curls? If your hair is stubborn straight: no amount of products, hot tools, and hair techniques will guarantee the curls will last all day. Unless you are planning to book touch up services to refresh your style, I highly recommend putting your hair into an updo or a whimsical braided style to ensure a long-lasting result.

What kind of clip-in extensions should I buy? Clip-in extensions must be 100% human hair. Synthetic hair will not curl and it will melt with the use of hot tools. I really like Luxy Hair extensions!!
